Biden Releases Statement Indicating No Plans to Drop Out

President Joe Biden released a statement on Friday indicating that he has no plans of dropping out of the presidential race.

Biden commented on former president Donald Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention this week, saying that “for over 90 minutes, he focused on his own grievances, with no plan to unite us and no plan to make life better for working people.”

The President also claimed Trump “destroyed our economy once and will inflict pain on the middle class” and that he “wants to gut the checks and balances of our Constitution and rule as a dictator on day one.”

“Together, as a party and as a country, we can and will defeat him at the ballot box,” Biden said.

“I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America: one where we save our democracy, protect our rights and freedoms, and create opportunity for everyone.”

The statement comes as Biden faces growing calls to step down from the race.

Earlier this week, the Biden family condemned reports that claim President Joe Biden may exit the 2024 presidential race.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates told NBC News, “[Biden’s exit] is not happening, period.”

“The individuals making those claims are not speaking for his family or his team — and they will be proven wrong. Keep the faith,” he added.

Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s re-election campaign chair, said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Biden is “absolutely” in the race. “He is the best person to take on Donald Trump,” she asserted.

Others have said that Biden will remain in the race, despite concerns regarding his health and stability.

Senior adviser to Biden’s reelection campaign, T.J. Ducklo, wrote on social media, “Joe Biden is his party’s nominee. He’s the President of the United States. He’s running for reelection. Baseless conjecture from anonymous sources isn’t a scoop.”

Despite officials claiming Biden will remain in the race, twenty-nine Democrats have urged him to drop his reelection campaign.
