Planned Parenthood refused to comply with a court order mandating that they disclose records for Missouri minors’ gender transitions.
On Thursday, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced, “The Court just ordered Planned Parenthood-St. Louis to turn over documents exposing how they subjected children to puberty blockers and irreversible surgery, often without parental consent,” adding, “We are 3/3 in our court battle to force clinics to comply with our investigations.”
“In recent weeks, my team has also obtained court orders forcing Planned Parenthood-Great Plains and Children’s Mercy to fork over documents in compliance with our investigations,” he continued.
Bailey said that is “no more important fight than to ensure Missouri is the safest state in the nation for children.”
“As a father of four and Attorney General, I will not stand by and allow children to be harmed.”
“Although the decision requires us to turn over other documents, our patients’ private medical records and information will not be disclosed,” Planned Parenthood said in a statement, according to River Front Times.
Richard Muniz, interim president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, said in a statement following the court order, “By allowing the Attorney General to continue his sham investigation, the court has green-lit the ongoing assault on Missourians’ health care. Gender-affirming care has been recognized as essential and lifesaving care by more than two dozen leading medical organizations; patients have no reason to have this war waged by the Attorney General against their care. Attacks like this one are what happens when politicians put politics over people — people who look, identify, and believe differently from them.”
Muniz reiterated his belief that Bailey is leading a “sham investigation.”
“It’s no coincidence: this sham investigation is a coordinated attack against transgender Missourians at a time when politicians, across many states, are systematically dismantling the right to establish one’s own gender identity,” Muniz stated. “Just like abortion wasn’t banned overnight, neither will trans care. It will be systematically dismantled — little by little, starting with the most vulnerable, including young people.”
Bailey also launched a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood after discovering the abortion provider is “trafficking minors out of state to obtain abortions without parental consent.”
The lawsuit comes after a Project Veritas investigation revealed Planned Parenthood employees aid in the transportation of teenagers across state lines to have abortions.
In a December video from the investigation group, a Planned Parenthood managing director said, “We don’t do them [abortions] here. yeah, we don’t do them in Missouri. It’s illegal. But we do have, I can give you a packet of the two locations that do it in Kansas.”
The managing director explained that “people will come pick them [the minors] up. It doesn’t matter if the school agrees or not. We say that she was at the doctor. And we can cut off our letterhead so it doesn’t even say where she was.”
