In a press release issued Tuesday by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the organization raised serious concerns over the handling of illegal immigration by the Biden administration.
FAIR’s president, Dan Stein, highlighted recent data on illegal immigration released by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
“Encounters of illegal migrants by the Border Patrol at the Southwest Border were down in June, but only because the Biden administration has invented other means of allowing large numbers of inadmissible aliens to enter the country,” Stein pointed out.
He criticized the administration’s approach, stating that it seemed more focused on making illegal immigration “less visible to the American public” rather than attempting to control it.
Stein contrasted the current situation with that under the Trump administration, remarking, “Under the highest year of the Trump administration, in 2019, average monthly encounters were 95,668, or roughly 3,100 per day.”
Comparatively, in June this year, encounters remained a staggering 211,575, translating to over 7,000 per day.
FAIR’s president also suggested that the Biden administration was using indirect methods to allow migrants to enter the US.
“Their strategy entails redirecting migrants away from crossing between ports of entry, by allowing them to enter through land ports of entry or to fly directly to the United States,” he claimed.
Stein also accused the administration of “blatant abuse of parole authority” and encouraging illegal migrants to use the CBP One phone app.
Further, Stein addressed the broader impact of these strategies on American society.
He emphasized, “Those who are entering through these back channels illegally created by the administration are still illegal aliens and still impose the same burdens on communities and taxpayers struggling to cope with the impact of Biden’s policies.”
The FAIR president finished his remarks by stating that the June encounter numbers are hardly cause for celebration but rather serve as another example of the administration’s resolute effort to maintain an open-borders policy while claiming to control it.
