Woman Caught Mailing Large Stack of Ballots Day Before 2020 Election: Detroit

Michigan Citizens for Election Integrity made the discovery.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Footage from a Detroit area Surveillance camera shows a woman putting a large stack of absentee ballot envelopes into a voting drop box the day before the 2020 election.
  • The Michigan Citizens for Election Integrity initially reported on the potential fraud, saying that the footage showed two women depositing ballots outside a voting center before entering the center.
  • Questions emerged about how they could have possession of that number of ballots, and also why they would have deposited them outdoors when they were planning to go indoors.
NURSES NOT ALLOWED TO DELIVER BALLOTS ON BEHALF OF PATIENTS:
  • One report on the potential fraud pointed out that one of the women in the videos was wearing scrubs and that Michigan law does not allow nursing home employees or nurses to deliver absentee ballots on behalf of patients.
  • “Generally, Michigan law on absentee balloting, applied to everyone, including nursing home residents, permits a household member or a family member (a ‘member of the immediate family of the voter’ includes a father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, or grandchild or an individual residing in the voter’s household), or an election official if those options are not available, to return a voter’s absentee ballot,” the law reads.
BACKGROUND:
  • Scrutiny around the 2020 election has once again gained steam due to the success of documentary filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza’s 2000 Mules film about election fraud.
  • The compelling nature of the data compiled and reviewed in the film generated increased frustration with the lack of assurance that the last election was free and fair.
