Fewer Omicron cases than last month, nationally.
QUICK FACTS:
- New coronavirus cases have started to fall nationally, The New York Times (NYT) reports.
- More states have passed a peak in new cases in recent days, the country averaging about 720,000 new cases a day through Friday.
- That’s down from about 807,000 last week.
- New coronavirus hospital admissions have leveled off, too.
VACCINE INEFFECTIVE TO STOP COVID DEATHS, THOUGH:
- Deaths continue to mount, NYT reports, with more than 2,100 announced most days.
- This, even though the U.S. population is 76% vaccinated, 63.6% fully, according to Google data, calling into question the vaccine’s efficacy.
- The inability of high vaccination rates in the U.S. to stave off deaths from coronavirus contradicts the CDC’s claim that “COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing infection, serious illness, and death.”

BACKGROUND:
- The Covid-19 vaccine is proving ineffective to curb coronavirus infection rates in Japan, too.
- American Faith reported yesterday that Tokyo recently recorded its fourth record number of daily COVID-19 infections on Saturday, breaking above 10,000, while Japan’s exceeded 50,000 for the first time as the Omicron variant continues to spread rapidly, Reuters reports.
- However, Japan’s population is 80.5% vaccinated (79.2% “fully”), according to Google data, also calling into question the vaccine’s efficacy.
