Woman with Rifle Causes Panic at Chicago Trump Tower: SWAT Team Responds

Chicago police responded to a domestic-related incident on Wednesday morning after a woman entered the Trump International Hotel and Tower with a rifle, The Daily Mail reports.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m. and police were called to the 27th floor of the building.

The incident occurred just one day after former President Donald Trump was arraigned on charges in New York, although police have not indicated if there is any connection between the two events.

Police received reports of a woman “brandishing a rifle” in the downtown skyscraper.

The incident was not immediately linked to any terroristic threat and police have since stated that there is “no threat to the public” and the incident appears to be “isolated.”

Some reports suggest that the woman had stated that she was “tired of being abused by her husband.”

Due to the incident, which occurred at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, Wabash Avenue was closed in both directions between Wacker Drive and Hubbard Street, resulting in traffic delays.

A witness who was inside the building during the incident recounted the chaotic scene, revealing that he was promptly guided away from the lobby and instructed not to return until the situation had been resolved.

Police confirmed in a Twitter statement that SWAT officers were on the scene and investigating the domestic-related incident.

“At this time, we believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” the statement said.
