White House Calls for Prayer After Devastating Floods

The White House Faith Office has called for Americans to join it in praying for the lives lost in the deadly Texas floods.

“The White House Faith Office asks you to join us in prayer for the precious lives lost in the Texas floods,” the statement read. “Amidst this tragedy, our nation must come together to pray for the victims, their families, and the first responders conducting rescue missions to find those still missing. May God wrap his loving arms around all those in Texas.”

The office quoted Psalm 34:18, which says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also urged Americans to pray for flood victims and the families involved in the disaster, saying, “We are currently deploying federal emergency management resources to Texas first responders, and will work closely with state and local authorities to ensure the people of Texas get the support they need as search efforts continue and recovery begins. Pray for the victims, the families, and our first responders. God bless Texas.”

Her statement followed President Donald Trump signing a “Major Disaster Declaration” for Kerr County, Texas, to “ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need,” the president wrote on Truth Social.

“These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing. The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders,” he said. “Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was on the ground yesterday with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working hard to help the people of his Great State. Our incredible U.S. Coast Guard, together with State First Responders, have saved more than 850 lives. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS!”
