WEF Publishes Paper on ‘Digital Safety’

The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Coalition for Digital Safety published a paper on various aspects of “digital safety.” The WEF holds that “international human rights” should be “translated” into an online format. The paper also discusses how to “tackle” “harmful online content.” The published material calls for a balance between “safety and privacy in the digital world, and freedom of expression.”

From Reclaim the Net:

According to the white paper, the WEF coalition’s principles seek to “advance digital safety in a rights-respecting way, drive multi stakeholder alignment, encourage positive behaviors and actions across the digital ecosystem, and inform and enable regulatory, industry and societal efforts and innovations.”
