Washington Post Columnist Urges Democrats to Accuse GOP of ‘Killing Kids’ in Messaging Over Key Policies

Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin suggested Democrats adopt more aggressive messaging against Republicans, including accusing them of wanting to “kill your kids.” Speaking on her podcast, Jen Rubin’s Green Room, Rubin argued for a pointed response to GOP policies she claims endanger children, citing opposition to vaccinations, gun control, and medical research funding.

Rubin’s remarks came during a discussion about Senate Republicans confirming President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees. She stated, “The people who irresponsibly put dangerous, treasonous, unfit people in positions of authority are responsible… for all the horrors that will unfold.” Rubin urged Democrats to deliver clear, direct messaging to voters, arguing, “You can’t talk broad themes. You have to boil it down to nuts and bolts, and you have to be pithy. What do I mean by pithy? How about this: Republicans want to kill your kids. It’s actually true.”

She pointed to GOP stances on firearms and public health as examples. “If you’re gonna allow minors and all sorts of people to get semi-automatic weapons… you are responsible for kids’ health and death,” Rubin added.

Fox News Digital contacted Rubin and The Washington Post for comment but received no immediate response. Rubin, once a conservative writer, has become an outspoken supporter of the Democratic Party in recent years and frequently appears as a contributor on MSNBC.

Rubin has also criticized colleagues and leadership within her media and political spheres. She denounced MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski for meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, calling it “disgusting” on social media. Rubin encouraged viewers to boycott the show, stating, “If you don’t appreciate the audience you have… you’re going to lose lots of them.”

Her criticism extended to The Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos after the paper halted endorsements for presidential candidates. Rubin dismissed Bezos’s explanation, alleging it was an effort to appease Trump and calling it a “bending of the knee.” She criticized what she perceived as damage to the press’s integrity, arguing the move undermines efforts to defend democracy against “fascist threats.”
