Washington Listed as Most Dangerous U.S. State

A study released by personal finance company WalletHub ranked Washington as the most dangerous U.S. state.

The score assessed the state’s violent crime, property crime, traffic-related deaths, and the number of law enforcement employees per capita.

Following Washington, the least safe states were New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, and Arkansas, while the safest states were New Jersey, Wyoming, New Hampshire, Idaho, and New York.

When assessing affordability, education, health, and other factors, Washington placed 35th.

The best states to live in overall, according to the report, were Massachusetts, Florida, New Jersey, Utah, and New Hampshire.

Massachusetts was seen as the best state to live in due to its “strong health care system and high-quality education,” the report said. The state also has the “third-lowest property crime rate in the country and has the third-best access to public transportation.”

WalletHub ranked Louisiana, New Mexico, Arkansas, Alaska, and Nevada as the worst states to live in.

According to U.S News & World Report, the best state to live in is Utah, followed by New Hampshire.

Washington was listed as the eighth-best state, although it was ranked 39th for crime.
