Virginia Homeland Security Task Force Surpasses 500 Arrests

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced a significant milestone this week as the Virginia Homeland Security Task Force (VHSTF) surpassed 500 arrests in its ongoing efforts to protect communities from transnational crime, gang violence, and immigration violations.

The task force, a federal-state partnership established by the U.S. Department of Justice, began its operation on February 25. Since then, it has made 521 arrests across the Commonwealth. Among those arrested, 132 individuals are confirmed members or affiliates of violent gangs, including the notorious MS-13 and Tren de Aragua, as well as other criminal enterprises tied to transnational organized crime.

Governor Youngkin praised the work of law enforcement, calling the milestone a “strong signal” that Virginia is committed to the rule of law and the safety of its citizens. “We are restoring law and order by targeting the networks that seek to undermine our security,” Youngkin said. “Our task force is working tirelessly to ensure that violent criminals and illegal actors are removed from our streets.”

“Thanks to the brave men and women of our federal and state law enforcement, more than 500 criminal illegal immigrants, including more than 130 gang-members, are off of Virginia’s streets and facing justice for their crimes. All Virginians should be proud that our State Troopers and Corrections Officers are a part of this incredible team of over 200 law enforcement officers. I am grateful for the leadership of President Trump, Attorney General Bondi, Secretary Noem, Director Patel, and Acting Director Lyons. What’s happening in Virginia is a model that should be replicated all across the country.”

The operation’s results reflect growing concern among conservative leaders and citizens about the dangerous consequences of lax immigration enforcement and open-border policies. The infiltration of violent gangs, often fueled by illegal immigration and weak border security, has become a major public safety issue nationwide. Youngkin’s administration is taking a stand by supporting state and federal cooperation in rooting out these threats.

The arrests are expected to continue as the task force maintains its focus on dismantling criminal networks operating within Virginia.
