Vaccinated U.S. Senator Hospitalized After Experiencing ‘Sudden Onset of Numbness’ in Face

Alabama Senator Katie Britt (R) has been hospitalized following an abrupt bout of facial numbness she experienced while spending time with her family in Montgomery over the weekend.

As reported in a statement on Monday, medical practitioners have traced the cause of the symptom to the inflammation of a facial nerve, attributing it to a probable post-viral infection.

In the statement, the Republican senator was quoted as saying, “While with my family in Montgomery this past weekend, I experienced a sudden onset of numbness in my face.”

Britt went on to say that she was subsequently evaluated at Baptist Medical Center South where the underlying cause of her symptoms was discovered.

The issue was determined to be, “swelling of a facial nerve, most likely caused by a post-viral infection.”

The Republican senator sought a secondary medical opinion that reaffirmed the original diagnosis, and she is now being treated as an outpatient.

Britt emphasized that her health situation is not dangerous, although a complete recovery could span over several weeks.

“A specialist from AB has subsequently evaluated me on an outpatient basis and concurred with the prognosis and course of treatment,” she said.

Britt then reassured the public, “My condition is not life-threatening, and recovery could take several weeks. I am grateful for the medical professionals providing excellent care, and my family and I are deeply grateful for your prayers.”

Britt, who was victorious over Rep. Mo Brooks in Alabama’s Republican Party primary runoff election last year, is now recuperating at home.

The senator expressed deep gratitude towards the medical staff for their care and to the public for their prayers.

She reiterated that her condition is not life-threatening, with her recovery period expected to last several weeks.

In a Sep 2021 tweet, the Alabama senator revealed that she had received a COVID-19 vaccine.

“As I’ve said before, I chose to get the vaccine after consulting my family’s doctor,” she wrote in the post. “But the federal government has no business forcing employers or individuals to do this. It’s that simple.”

Facial numbness or paralysis has been reported following COVID vaccination (here, here, here, here, here).
