US, UK Announce ‘Golden Age’ Nuclear Energy Deal

The United States and the United Kingdom announced a new nuclear energy deal ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit to the country.

The agreement, called the Atlantic Partnership for Advanced Nuclear Energy

The agreement, called the Atlantic Partnership for Advanced Nuclear Energy, is described as the “golden age” of nuclear, as the energy expansion is “central to the UK government’s clean energy superpower mission, as part of the UK’s drive to build more clean homegrown power to ensure energy security.”

“With President Trump’s leadership, the United States is ushering in a true nuclear renaissance – harnessing the power of commercial nuclear to meet rising energy demand and fuel the AI revolution,” said U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright. “Meeting this demand will require strong partnerships with our allies around the world and robust collaboration with private sector innovators.”

He added that the deal sets up a “framework to unleash commercial access in both the U.S. and UK, enhancing global energy security, strengthening U.S. energy dominance, and securing nuclear supply chains across the Atlantic.”

Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the deal a “landmark” partnership that will “set us well on course to a golden age of nuclear that will drive down household bills in the long run, while delivering thousands of good jobs in the short term.”

The partnership includes fusion energy, experimental programs, AI technology, and commercial deals with companies such as X-Energy, Centrica, Holtec, EDF, Tritax, Last Energy, DP World, Urenco, Radiant, TerraPower, and KBR.

Earlier this year, Trump signed executive orders boosting the nuclear industry, reducing red tape, encouraging collaborations with private companies, and another to speed up the approval for specialized nuclear reactors.
