UNLV Shooter Identified as College Professor Rejected for a Position at the School

Law enforcement officials revealed that the mass shooter who murdered three innocent people at the University of Las Vegas this week was 67-year-old Anthony Polito, a professor who was rejected from a job at the school.

Polito had previously worked as a professor in North Carolina and Georgia.

Officials have reportedly recovered the shooter’s phone and are using it to search for evidence regarding his motive for the shooting.

ABC 7 News reported Polito had a LinkedIn page and a personal website where he published a 15-page document on the Zodiac Killer, a mass murderer who operated in Northern California in the late 1960s.

Polito described himself on LinkedIn as a “semi-retired university professor” who went to Radford University, and then earned his master’s degree at Duke University.

The former professor completed his education at the University of Georgia, earning a Doctor in Philosophy.
