Trump Takes Hardline Stance with Iran, ‘Unlike Obama’

President Trump fired back on Monday, proclaiming he has dropped all work on sanction relief for Iran. He dismissed Sen. Chris Coons’s allegation that the administration was dangling “tens of billions of dollars of incentives and reduced sanctions” in exchange for Tehran stepping away from uranium enrichment, “unlike Obama.”

“Tell phony Democrat Senator Chris Coons that I am not offering Iran ANYTHING, unlike Obama, who paid them $Billions,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities.” His dramatic wording underlines a stark contrast to the Obama-era Iran deal .

Coons’s comments came after reports surfaced that the Trump team was allegedly debating an Iran proposal involving economic incentives tied to nuclear limitations. Trump, however, made clear last week this was not the case.

The U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities drew praise from Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission, which labeled the Fordow plant “inoperable” and credited the action with setting back Iran’s bomb-making ability by years.
