University of Utah Professors Cancel Classes To Host ‘Healing Circles’ After Detransitioner’s Speech on Campus

Some professors at the University of Utah have cancelled classes to host “healing circles” over an upcoming speech on campus featuring a woman who detransitioned at 16.

Hosted by the Young Americans Foundation (YAF), 19-year-old detransitioner Chloe Cole will be speaking about her experience on campus after having a double mastectomy at 15, and then detransitioning at 16.

In an email to students, one professor wrote the event was going to be hosted by an “anti-trans activist.”

“We are expecting significant protest this week around the event, starting as early as tomorrow due to transphobic events planned for Tuesday and Thursday of this week,” the professor said. “I wanted to make sure no one feels pressured to come to campus this week due to one of our class meetings, especially if you do not feel safe.”
