Trump Promises to Revoke Executive Order on AI

Donald Trump promised to revoke President Joe Biden’s executive order on artificial intelligence if he wins the White House in 2024.

“Just this week, Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary even admitted that they are weaponizing artificial intelligence to target American citizens for political speech,” Trump told a crowd in Iowa.

“Well, at least he was honest,” he added.

“When I’m re-elected, I will cancel Biden’s artificial intelligence executive order and ban the use of AI to censor the speech of American citizens on day one.”

In October, the White House released an executive order on artificial intelligence (AI), designed to establish “new standards” for “safety and security.”

The executive order explains that the National Institute of Standards and Technology will set standards for AI testing, which will be applied by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

DHS will also “address AI systems’ threats to critical infrastructure, as well as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and cybersecurity risks. Together, these are the most significant actions ever taken by any government to advance the field of AI safety.”

The order comes as the United States “leads in AI innovation” and calls for a “competitive AI ecosystem” to ensure that America continues to lead in the industry.
