Ukrainian Business Federation Demands Action Be Taken to Stop Rampant Corruption by Gov’t

The Federation of Employers of Ukraine appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky to call for action against the rampant corruption and abuse of power by the government.

The federation suggested a public registry be created to identify corrupt officials.

According to the business federation, the great level of corruption is hindering Ukraine’s defense.

“In extremely difficult conditions of war, Ukrainian business has become the pillar of the state,” the appeal from 42 heads of companies read.

“Paying taxes, volunteer projects, supporting the armed forces and investing, protecting jobs, and ensuring stable payment of salaries are signs of normality for citizens, which businesses provide in these difficult times,” the memo continued.

The business heads added in the document that the “unjust exercise of power of bribe-takers in uniforms and judicial robes has reached intolerable levels. Given the ongoing war, such behavior goes beyond mere criminality.”

“Anyone who engages in extortion and sells the honor of a uniform or judge’s robe for bribes during wartime must be held accountable,” the document’s writers asserted.

Reporting from Remix News:

“Because the plunderers in the state service are confident that they can act without consequences, the business community takes up this challenge. We will create a public register of corrupt law enforcement officers and judges,” the entrepreneurs wrote, urging the president to use his powers and intervene.

They expressed their readiness to provide the names of service personnel and judicial representatives who extort bribes or unlawfully seize enterprises.
