U.S. Will ‘Embrace a Heavy Price’ for Strikes in Yemen: Houthis

Deputy Director of Ansarullah’s Moral Guidance Department, Brigadier General Abdullah bin Amer told al-Jazeera that the United States must be prepared to “embrace a heavy price” for strikes in Yemen.

“Washington and London must acknowledge responsibility for aggravating the situation at the Red Sea, and the militarization of the body of water,” bin Amer told the outlet, according to Iranian outlet PressTV. “They must be ready to embrace a heavy price, and bear all the deleterious consequences of this open aggression.”

He added that Houthis “will target their bases across the region in case the United States and the United Kingdom increase their attacks.”

A spokesperson for the Houthi group said that at least 5 terrorists were killed and at least 6 were injured in the strikes.

“The American-British enemy, as part of its support for the continuation of Israeli crime in Gaza, launched a brutal aggression against the Republic of Yemen with seventy-three raids, targeting the capital, Sanaa, and the governorates of Hodeidah, Taiz, Hajjah, and Saada. The raids led to the death of five martyrs and the injury of six others from our armed forces,” the spokesperson stated, according to a translation.

“The Yemeni armed forces will not hesitate to target sources of threat and all hostile targets on land and at sea in defense of Yemen,” they continued. “The American and British enemy bears full responsibility for its criminal aggression against our Yemeni people, and it will not go unanswered and unpunished.”

U.S. Central Command announced the strikes in a statement on X.

This multinational action targeted radar systems, air defense systems, and storage and launch sites for one way attack unmanned aerial systems, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.”

General Michael Erik Kurilla, USCENTCOM Commander, said, “We hold the Houthi militants and their destabilizing Iranian sponsors responsible for the illegal, indiscriminate, and reckless attacks on international shipping that have impacted 55 nations so far, including endangering the lives of hundreds of mariners, including the United States. Their illegal and dangerous actions will not be tolerated, and they will be held accountable.”
