U.S. Prosecutors Launch Website for Victims of FTX Fraud

A website has been launched by U.S. prosecutors for victims of alleged fraud by Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, to contact law enforcement, Reuters reports.

District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan permitted the use of the website on Friday night, as prosecutors said that it would be “impracticable” to individually contact the potentially over one million people owed money by FTX.

Bankman-Fried, 30, has denied eight counts of wire fraud and conspiracy in relation to the collapse of FTX in November.

Prosecutors claim that Bankman-Fried used customer deposits to pay debts for his hedge fund, Alameda Research, and deceived investors about FTX’s financial status.

Bankman-Fried has admitted to risk management issues, but stated that he does not consider himself guilty of a crime.

Neither the U.S. Attorney’s office nor Bankman-Fried’s lawyers responded to requests for comment.
