U.S. Foreign-Born Population Projected to Skyrocket to 82 Million by 2040 Under Biden Policies

Research by Steven Camarota from the Center for Immigration Studies highlights the significant growth in the United States’ foreign-born population, driven by both legal and illegal immigration under the Biden administration. The study projects that if current immigration levels persist, the foreign-born population could exceed 82 million by 2040.

As of now, the foreign-born population in the U.S. has reached a record-breaking 52 million, representing about 15.5% of the total population. This marks an increase of nearly seven million individuals in under four years, surpassing the growth rate seen during the two terms of former President Barack Obama, which was approximately 6.4 million.

Illegal immigration plays a significant role in this surge, with nearly 10.5 million border encounters recorded since January 2021. Within this period, over six million migrants have been released into the U.S. interior, 1.8 million are classified as “got-aways,” and visa overstays have been estimated at 500,000 to 800,000 annually. These figures do not account for an unknown number of undetected border crossings.

Camarota emphasizes that the scale of immigration under the Biden administration is “unprecedented,” with far-reaching implications for the nation if these trends continue.
