A metal fence surrounding the U.S. Capitol has been reinstalled leading up to Biden’s State of the Union address. Capitol police said in a statement that “National Special Security Events require a robust security plan, so out of an abundance of caution, the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Capitol Police temporarily put up a fence around the U.S. Capitol Building.” The fence was previously reinstalled for previous State of the Union addresses, a trucker protest, and a rally supporting January 6 prisoners.
