U.S. Army Suspends Colonel After Trump Photos Removed From Command Wall

The U.S. Army has suspended Colonel Sheyla Baez Ramirez, the commander of Fort McCoy, after it was revealed that the base failed to display official photos of President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on the command wall.

While the Army Reserve Command claimed the “suspension is not related to any misconduct,” they also noted, “We have no further details to provide at this time while this matter is under review.” However, the timing coincides directly with the controversy surrounding the empty photo frames on a wall that traditionally showcases current leadership.

Pete Hegseth, a decorated veteran and now Secretary of Defense, reposted the news on X, emphasizing: “Commander of Fort McCoy, whose base chain-of-command board was missing photos of Trump, Vance and Hegseth, has been SUSPENDED.”

Following public outcry, the Department of Defense acted swiftly. “Regarding the Ft. McCoy Chain of Command wall controversy…. WE FIXED IT! Also, an investigation has begun to figure out exactly what happened,” posted the department’s rapid response team.

Colonel Ramirez had assumed command in July and held a significant Army career, but this lapse appears to have cost her the position—underscoring the administration’s seriousness about respect for leadership and adherence to military protocol.

This incident isn’t isolated. Earlier this month, Col. Susannah Meyers was removed from command of Pituffik Space Force Base in Greenland after she reportedly undermined Vice President Vance’s visit. In a concerning email to staff, she wrote, “I do not presume to understand current politics,” and claimed Vance’s message was not “reflective of Pituffik Space Base.” The Space Force responded by stating she was relieved “due to loss of confidence in her ability to lead.”

Further demonstrating his no-nonsense approach to internal discipline, Secretary Hegseth also terminated four aides following leaks and internal squabbles involving a private Signal chat about military operations, labeling the culprits as “disgruntled employees.”

These actions send a clear message: the Trump administration is restoring respect, discipline, and accountability at all levels of military leadership.
