Two teenage girls visiting New York City from South America have been stabbed.
The 14-year-old and 16-year-old were eating with their parents when a man unexpectedly stabbed them.
According to ABC7NY, the 16-year-old was stabbed in the back and the 14-year-old was stabbed in the thigh.
Both are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Prior to the incident, the assailant, 36-year-old Steven Hutcherson, had an altercation with the restaurant staff, who told him he could not sit in the area.
Police say Hutcherson declared before the stabbing, “I want all the white people dead.”
Hutcherson was previously arrested 17 times.
Sources told the New York Post that “[e]veryone was just running,” adding that the scene was “chaotic.”
The assailant has been booked on attempted murder, assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
