Two fugitives on the run were captured in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee on Sunday during separate traffic stops, according to the Mt. Juliet Police Department.
The first arrest occurred on I-40 East when officers pulled over a 37-year-old man from Nashville for driving with a suspended license plate. During the stop, police discovered the man was a violent fugitive wanted in Mississippi for violating probation related to an aggravated domestic assault case. Authorities say he had been on the run since June 2017.
The second arrest happened on South Mt. Juliet Road near Providence MarketPlace when officers stopped a vehicle for a brake light violation. The driver, a 59-year-old man from La Vergne, was found to be wanted in Wilson County for theft over $60,000. The outstanding warrant dated back to August 2023.
Following the arrests, the Mt. Juliet Police Department praised its officers for their vigilance and commitment to public safety, emphasizing their mission to keep Mt. Juliet one of the safest communities in the region.
The FBI’s recent crackdown on high-profile cartel members marks a major shift in U.S. law enforcement policy under the Trump administration. Under the leadership of FBI Director Kash Patel, federal agents successfully took into custody eight dangerous fugitives, including cartel leaders and convicted murderers. These men, many of whom have long evaded justice, will now face trial in the United States for their crimes.
Among those captured was Rafael Caro Quintero, a notorious drug trafficker and former FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive. He is accused of orchestrating the 1985 kidnapping and murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena. His arrest sends a strong message that American law enforcement will not rest until justice is served, no matter how long it takes.
Another key figure apprehended was Jose Rodolfo Villareal-Hernández, also known as “El Gato.” A high-ranking cartel operative, he was behind a brutal murder-for-hire scheme and was responsible for large-scale drug trafficking into the United States.
