Twitter Used ‘Visibility Filtering’ for Political Censorship

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee had a hearing on “Protecting Speech from Government Interference and Social Media Bias,” questioning Twitter executives who worked for the social media platform during the Hunter Biden laptop censorship. The former chief legal officer at Twitter, Vijaya Gadde, said Twitter received requests from federal agencies to remove specific content. Gadde said Twitter uses phrases such as “do not amplify” to prevent the platform from recommending certain tweets, noting it was like visibility filtering.
