Twitter Suspends Colorado-Based Antifa Group

Just weeks after Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, promised to crack down on accounts that incite violence, the Colorado-based Antifa group @COSAntiFascists has been suspended from the platform.

On Saturday night, investigative journalist and editor for The Post Millenial Andy Ngo was the first to break the news and post screenshots of the alert.

He tweeted: “Breaking: @COSAntiFascists, the Colorado Springs cell of #Antifa, has been suspended on Twitter,” posting screenshots of an alert indicating the account had been suspended as well as some of the group’s more provocative posts. “The account has operated for years instructing comrades to assault people & directing members to get the home addresses, phone numbers of targets. It had 15k followers.”

The account had been active for several years with 15,000 followers and a history of disseminating messages inciting violence and vandalism.

On various occasions, organizers called for their supporters to vandalize local pro-life pregnancy centers following the recent Roe v. Wade Supreme Court reversal.

Moreover, the terrorist group also issued orders instructing followers to assault prominent right-wingers by sharing home addresses and phone numbers of targets.

From Post Millennial:

In November, Musk called for people on the social media platform to reply if users see any issues that need to be addressed. "Removing child exploitation is priority #1. Please reply in comments if you see anything that Twitter needs to address."

Ngo replied and noted that a large number of Twitter accounts used by Antifa members and groups are used to incite violence and remain unbanned.

"A large number of Antifa accounts operate on Twitter to promote riots, give tips on how to commit violent crimes and post names, photos and addresses of targets plus their family members," Ngo wrote.

"Incitement to violence will result in account suspension," Musk stated.

As a result of the suspensions of several accounts, Portland Antifa threatened arson and attacks on Musk-owned Tesla dealerships as retaliation.

The suspension of @COSAntiFascists marks a major victory in Twitter’s ongoing effort to remove dangerous content from their platform.
