Former Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday announced plans to bring a new version of his show to Twitter, while also taking a critical stance against the mainstream media.

In a statement released on the social media platform, Carlson emphasized the importance of free speech and accused the news media of manipulation and withholding crucial information.

He argued that much of the news is not exactly full of lies, but rather, it is the “lie of the stealthiest and most insidious kind.”

He further elaborated that “facts have been withheld on purpose, along with proportion and perspective. You are being manipulated.”

Using an example of a man arrested for armed robbery, Carlson explained that by withholding the fact that the man had been arrested for the same crime six times before, the media is misleading its audience.

He continued, “That’s what the news media are doing in every story that matters. Every day of the week, every week of the year.”

Carlson, who has been in the news industry for over 30 years, called the system “filthy” and “utterly corrupting.”

He stressed the importance of free speech as a “fundamental prerequisite for democracy” and credited Twitter for being the last big platform that allows it.

“Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops. Twitter is not a partisan site. Everybody’s allowed here, and we think that’s a good thing,” Carlson stated.

However, he also criticized the way news is analyzed on the platform, claiming it comes from “media organizations that are themselves thinly disguised propaganda outlets.”

The former Fox News host announced his intention to bring a new version of his show, which had been on the air for the past six and a half years, to Twitter.

Additionally, he teased that he would be “bringing some other things too,” although he did not provide further details.

Carlson concluded his announcement with a strong message on the importance of free speech, saying, “Free speech is the main right that you have. Without it, you have no others. See you soon.”
