Former President Donald J. Trump has released a plan detailing his proposed solution to the “Biden border crisis,” in which he claims there has been a surge in the number of illegal immigrants entering the United States.
In a video statement, Trump alleges that the border is not open due to a lack of resources or legal authorities, but rather because President Joe Biden has “ordered it to be open” and “shredded” the country’s immigration system.
To address the issue, Trump calls for a permanent ban on the use of taxpayer dollars to release illegal immigrants into the U.S., as well as criminal penalties for administrative noncompliance. He also advocates for the permanent codification of his own border security policies into federal law.
“Our country is under invasion,” Trump said. “Far more illegal immigrants have entered the United States in the last two years than in any time in American history and by a massive margin. We’ve never seen anything like it.”
The former president also criticized Biden for inheriting a “flawless deportation system that was working like never before,” and claimed that the Biden administration is “destroying our country.”
