President Donald Trump’s well-known mug shot now hangs in the entryway of the Oval Office, marking a historic moment in American politics.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino shared a video showcasing a framed New York Post front page featuring Trump’s mug shot. The image, taken after his August 24, 2023, arrest in Fulton County, Georgia, captures Trump’s intense stare as he tilts his head slightly downward.
The mug shot quickly became one of the most recognized images of the 2024 campaign. It remained the defining visual of Trump’s legal battles until it was overshadowed by the powerful moment when he raised his fist defiantly after being shot in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump’s arrest in Georgia stemmed from charges related to his efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis initially led the case, but a state appeals court later removed her, citing an “appearance of impropriety.” Since then, the case has remained in legal limbo.
Trump faced four criminal indictments in just five months throughout 2023—years after leaving office. The charges were brought after he announced his third presidential campaign in November 2022. However, following Trump’s landslide victory in November 2024, two federal cases were dropped, and a New York judge sentenced him to an unconditional discharge while upholding his conviction.
Trump’s return to the White House has been accompanied by several new art additions. His official portrait was hung in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and on February 6, the White House honored former President Ronald Reagan by displaying his portrait in the Oval Office. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institution acknowledged the tribute, thanking Trump for recognizing Reagan’s legacy.
