Trump’s First 100 Days: Promises Made, Promises Kept

President Donald Trump’s first 100 days of his second term have delivered sweeping changes across immigration, government reform, and national security. With a focus on restoring American sovereignty and dismantling progressive overreach, the administration has enacted bold measures that resonate with conservatives.

Border Enforcement: A Historic Turnaround

In February, U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) apprehended 8,347 individuals crossing the Southwest border between ports of entry. This represents a 94% decrease compared to February 2024, when 140,641 apprehensions were recorded.

Nationwide, daily apprehensions averaged approximately 330, marking the lowest in CBP history. Southwest border apprehensions fell to less than 300 per day. Known “gotaways” dropped over 90%, restoring agents’ control and reducing national security risks.

Combating the Fentanyl Crisis

In February, President Trump signed Executive Order 14195, imposing a 10% tariff on all Chinese imports under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), citing China’s role in the synthetic opioid crisis, including fentanyl trafficking. This tariff was increased to 20% in March 2025.

In March, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized 760 pounds of fentanyl, marking a 24% increase from February 2025.

Government Reform: Efficiency and Accountability

The administration established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, resulting in the elimination of around 275,000 federal jobs and the closure of several agencies. This move aimed to streamline government operations and reduce bureaucratic waste.

DOGE’s actions have resulted in over 275,000 federal job cuts, including 55,000 layoffs, 76,000 buyouts, and an additional 145,000 positions at risk. This reduction accounts for more than 12% of the federal civilian workforce.

Strengthening the Military

Trump has proposed a $1 trillion defense budget for the next fiscal year, representing an increase of nearly 12% from current spending levels. This budget aims to modernize the military and enhance national security, with funding sourced in part from savings identified by the Department of Government Efficiency.

Trump has also called for the reinstatement of service members who were wrongfully released of their duties due to their personal choice to not get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Tariffs to Protect American Interests

Trump signed executive orders imposing significant tariffs on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada. These measures include a 10% tariff on all Chinese imports and a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada, aimed at addressing issues related to undocumented immigration and drug trafficking. China faces up to a 245% tariff on imports to the United States as a result of its retaliatory actions.

Cultural and Social Policy Shifts

President Trump enacted significant cultural rollbacks, banning federal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs and transgender participation in women’s sports. These actions align with traditional values and aim to restore common-sense policies.

President Trump signed Executive Order 14201, “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” on February 5. This order prohibits transgender women and girls from participating in female sports across all educational levels and threatens to revoke federal funding from institutions that allow such participation. The Department of Education has enforced this policy by directing schools to erase records of transgender athletes and restore accolades to biological female athletes.

With over 140 executive orders signed thus far, plenty more could be covered regarding President Trump’s first 100 days in office. One thing is certain: Trump is paving the way for the next four years and fulfilling his campaign promises to the American people to Make America Great Again.
