President Trump announced over $90 billion in new private-sector investments in artificial intelligence and energy infrastructure during the Pennsylvania Energy & Innovation Summit at Carnegie Mellon University on July 15. The initiative aims to restore Pennsylvania’s industrial strength, create thousands of jobs, and position the U.S. as a global leader in AI development, directly countering Chinese dominance.
The summit featured major corporate commitments. Google pledged $25 billion to build AI data centers and modernize hydroelectric facilities across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. Blackstone, in partnership with PPL, will invest another $25 billion in AI-capable data centers and power plants in Northeast Pennsylvania. CoreWeave committed over $6 billion for an advanced AI data center in Lancaster. Additional support will come from FirstEnergy, Westinghouse, EQT, Capital Power, and other firms, focusing on grid modernization, natural gas, nuclear, and traditional energy projects.
“These announcements represent a truly triumphant day for the people of Pennsylvania and for the United States of America,” President Trump said, emphasizing the economic and national security importance of maintaining AI leadership over China. The projects are expected to generate thousands of high-paying jobs, upgrade critical infrastructure, and strengthen America’s energy independence.
The Pennsylvania summit highlighted a rare bipartisan moment, with Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro and multiple Cabinet officials in attendance. However, some critics voiced concerns over environmental impacts and the balance between traditional energy sources and renewable options. Still, supporters argue that this level of investment will spark a manufacturing and technology revival that benefits American workers and ensures the country’s technological edge.
The AI and energy investments underscore the Trump administration’s America First approach—leveraging private capital to expand domestic industry, improve power reliability, and keep America competitive globally.
