Former President Donald Trump announced that he will be holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania to honor those who were injured during the attempted assassination against him earlier this month.
“I WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL RALLY, HONORING THE SOUL OF OUR BELOVED FIREFIGHTING HERO, COREY, AND THOSE BRAVE PATRIOTS INJURED TWO WEEKS AGO,” Trump posted on social media. “WHAT A DAY IT WILL BE — FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS.”
Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed during the rally that almost took the life of the former president.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said that Comperatore was a firefighter who went to church every week and died covering his family.
“Corey was the very best of us,” Shapiro said. “May his memory be a blessing.”
Singer Billy Ray Cyrus appeared at the funeral for Comepratore last week.
“Corey Comperatore is a[n] Army reservist veteran and former firefighter chief. Billy Ray Cyrus has always been passionate about honoring troops and first responders. Today he was honored to join the family and perform during the service,” a source told Fox News Digital.
Comperatore’s funeral drew hundreds of family members, friends and local law enforcement officials, as well as thousands of Butler County residents who lined the rural roads surrounding the church.
Trump honored the firefighter during his RNC speech this week, saying what a “fine” man he was.
“He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect them from flying bullets… what a fine man he was,” Trump said. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for others.”
“This is the spirit that forged America in her darkest hours, and this is the love that will lead America back to the summit of human achievement and greatness.”
