Clash of the Titans: Trump Threatens to Deport Elon Musk Over Subsidy Squabble

President Trump ramped up his feud with Elon Musk on Tuesday, threatening to deport Elon Musk and launch a DOGE investigation into taxpayer subsidies that have fueled his business empire.

“Elon may get more subsidies than any human being in history, by far,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”

The president didn’t stop there. Speaking to reporters, he floated the idea of deportation. “We’ll have to take a look,” Trump said. “We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?”

The threat followed Musk’s repeated criticism of Trump’s legislative centerpiece, the One Big Beautiful Bill. Musk called it “utterly insane,” warning it would destroy U.S. jobs and industries, while giving handouts to “industries of the past.”

Musk didn’t hold back, saying lawmakers backing the bill “should hang their heads in shame!” and warning they would “lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

Trump fired back, saying Musk was angry over the loss of the EV mandate in the bill. “Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one,” Trump said.
