Trump Teases ‘Regime Change’ in Iran on Truth Social

President Trump posted on Truth Social today, questioning why there would not be regime change in Iran if the government is “unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN.”

The full post read: “It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!”

The comments came shortly after U.S. airstrikes, carried out alongside Israeli forces, obliterated Iran’s key nuclear facilities at Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, with Trump asserting that they had been “completely and fully obliterated.”

Trump’s language builds on prior statements in which he demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and even hinted at targeting Supreme Leader Khamenei—though he blocked Israeli plans for such an assassination to avoid wider regional escalation. The day before, Trump announced he would address the nation following the completion of the U.S. strikes.

No formal U.S. policy change has been announced regarding regime change. Vice President Vance reiterated today that “we are not at war with Iran. We are at war with their nuclear program.” Though not a policy declaration, Trump’s latest remarks continue a pattern of pressure-oriented messaging towards Iran.
