President Trump announced that he is filing a lawsuit against Clinton-affiliated law firm Perkins Coie.
“I’m suing the law firm of Perkins Coie for their egregious and unlawful acts, in particular the conduct of a specific member of this firm, only to find out that the Judge assigned to this case is Beryl Howell, an Obama appointment, and a highly biased and unfair disaster,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “She ruled against me in the past, in a shocking display of sick judicial temperament, on a case that ended up working out very well for me, on appeal.”
“Her ruling was so pathologically bad that it became the ‘talk of the town.’ I could have a 100% perfect case and she would angrily rule against me,” he wrote. “It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome, and she’s got a bad case of it. To put it nicely, Beryl Howell is an unmitigated train wreck. NO JUSTICE!!!”
Trump targeted the law firm in a March executive order.
“Notably, in 2016 while representing failed Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Perkins Coie hired Fusion GPS, which then manufactured a false ‘dossier’ designed to steal an election. This egregious activity is part of a pattern,” the order says, explaining that the law firm has “worked with activist donors including George Soros to judicially overturn popular, necessary, and democratically enacted election laws, including those requiring voter identification.”
The order targeted the law firm’s security clearance, contracting, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. Perkins Coie now seeks to block the order entirely.
“Although Perkins Coie did not bring this suit lightly, it was compelled to do so to preserve its ability to continue representing the best interests of its clients,” lawyers representing Perkins Coie wrote in a filing this week. “The Constitution does not permit our elected leaders, from any party, to punish lawyers by fiat for representing clients who oppose their political agendas. It would set a grave precedent for our Republic if the Order were allowed to stand.”
