A security incident at Palm Beach International Airport forced the U.S. Secret Service to adjust President Trump’s motorcade route on Sunday after agents discovered a suspicious object during a routine security sweep. White House officials confirmed the action was precautionary and did not delay the president’s travel from Mar-a-Lago.
According to the White House, agents identified the item while conducting advance security operations ahead of President Trump’s departure. Officials emphasized that law enforcement acted swiftly and professionally to ensure safety without disrupting scheduled movements. “During advance sweeps of PBI Airport, a suspicious object was discovered by USSS,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. “A further investigation was warranted and the presidential motorcade route was adjusted accordingly.”
This latest security incident follows a troubling pattern of recent threats and close calls involving the president in Palm Beach. In October, the U.S. Secret Service discovered an elevated hunting stand positioned with a direct line of sight to the Air Force One landing zone at the same airport. Authorities found no suspect at the scene, but federal investigators took the matter seriously.
“Prior to the President’s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone,” FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox News Digital. “No individuals were located at the scene. The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead.”
A law enforcement source later confirmed the stand had likely been in place for months before discovery. That incident occurred shortly after Ryan Routh was found guilty of attempting to assassinate President Trump at his Palm Beach golf course, where prosecutors said he constructed a concealed sniper’s nest. The case followed an earlier assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, where President Trump was shot during a campaign rally.
