Trump Says Newsom Blew His Chance for 2028

President Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday evening to criticize Governor Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) recent remarks made in Atlanta while promoting his book.

“Gavin Newscum’s interview weeks ago was, perhaps, the most self destructive interview I’ve ever seen. In one fell swoop, he took himself out of even being considered as the Presidential Nominee of the Crazy (as proven at the State of the Union Address) Democrats,” Trump wrote. “He said, in a speech, he was dumb, had low Boards, can’t read, has dyslexia, and has a mental disorder — A Cognitive Mess! On top of that, Black People are angry because he is obviously a racist.”

“While we all want to be politically correct, having a mental disorder is not a positive campaign event. Also, this was a politically suicidal act,” he continued. “The only thing he didn’t say is he is losing his look, but nobody wants to say that about one’s self. He is no longer a viable Presidential Candidate!”

Trump’s comments come as reports indicate that Newsom is spending $19 million in a campaign to improve the state’s image. The campaign may also aim to boost his own public image ahead of a potential 2028 presidential campaign.

Speaking to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens last month while promoting his new memoir, Newsom said, “I’m on the other, you know this, I’m on the other side. I just am. I’m on the other side, you know, I don’t want to dream of regretting anymore.”

“No ‘could’ve, would’ve, should’ve.’ It’s all out there, and I just want to put it all out there. I’m not, you know, I’m not trying to impress you. I’m just trying to impress upon you I’m like you. I’m no better than you,” he stated. “I’m a 960 SAT guy. And I’m not trying to offend anyone; trying to act all there if you got 940. But literally a 960 SAT guy. You’ve never seen me read a speech because I cannot read a speech. Maybe I’m in the wrong business to be in.” Newsom added that he has not “overcome dyslexia.”
