Trump Returns to Davos Amid Record Turnout

The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 56th Annual Meeting saw a record turnout, with hundreds of business and political leaders arriving in Davos, Switzerland, for the summit.

“This year sees a record 400 top political leaders, including close to 65 heads of state and government, nearly 850 of the world’s top CEOs and chairs, and almost 100 leading unicorns and technology pioneers convening for one of the highest-level gatherings in the Annual Meeting’s history,” the WEF said on its website.

President Trump will speak at the gathering. WEF chief executive Borge Brende confirmed Trump’s appearance last week, stating, “We’re pleased to welcome back President Trump to Davos, and he’s bringing the largest U.S. delegation ever.”

This year’s annual meeting, called “A Spirit of Dialogue,” is a call to broaden perspectives, listen to one another, and challenge views, the WEF explained. “It is through this approach that leaders can rebuild trust and work towards a better future,” the organization asserted.

Five key areas to be addressed at the conference are, as per the WEF, “cooperation in a contested world, unlocking new sources of growth, investing in people, deploying innovation responsibly and building prosperity within planetary boundaries.”

Last year, President Trump made a video address to the WEF, criticizing the debanking of conservatives. Specifically addressing Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan, Trump said, “By the way, speaking of you, and you’ve done a fantastic job, but I hope you start opening your bank to conservatives because many conservatives complained that the banks are not allowing them to do business within the bank and that included a place called Bank of America.”

“They don’t take conservative business, and I don’t know if regulators mandated that because of Biden or what, but you and [J.P. Morgan Chase CEO] Jamie [Dimon] and everybody, I hope you will open your banks to conservatives, because what you are doing is wrong,” he said.
