Trump Open to Pardoning Diddy Amid Sex Trafficking Trial

President Donald Trump has indicated he would consider pardoning music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently on trial for federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. During a press conference at the White House, Trump stated that no formal request for a pardon has been made but acknowledged that discussions may be occurring behind the scenes. He emphasized that any decision would be based on the merits of the case, regardless of personal relationships.

Combs, 55, has been held without bail since his arrest in September 2024. His trial began in early May 2025, and if convicted, he faces a potential life sentence. The charges stem from allegations that Combs orchestrated events involving non-consensual sexual activities, referred to as “freak offs,” which were reportedly recorded without consent. Testimonies from former associates have accused Combs of rape, physical assault, and coercion.

Trump acknowledged a past friendship with Combs but noted that their relationship deteriorated after he entered politics. He reiterated that any pardon decision would be impartial and based solely on the facts of the case.

Since returning to the presidency in January 2025, Trump has issued a notable number of pardons and commutations, often citing concerns about a politicized justice system. On a single day in May, he granted 17 pardons and nine commutations.
