Trump ‘Not Far Away From the Truth’ on Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Russian Press Secretary

According to Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that he could swiftly end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is “not far” from the truth.

On Thursday, Trump stated on his social media platform Truth Social that if he were president, the war would never have happened and if it did, he would be able to negotiate an end within 24 hours.

“IF I WERE PRESIDENT, THE RUSSIA/UKRAINE WAR WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED, BUT EVEN NOW, IF PRESIDENT, I WOULD BE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE AN END TO THIS HORRIBLE AND RAPIDLY ESCALATING WAR WITHIN 24 HOURS,” Trump said. “SUCH A TRAGIC WASTE OF HUMAN LIFE!!!”

Peskov agrees that a U.S. president has the power to quickly put an end to the conflict by giving instructions to the Kiev regime.

The Russian press secretary said that Trump is “theoretically… not far away from the truth,” adding that “should the U.S. President wish to put an end to this conflict, he could do it very quickly, using the opportunity to simply give instructions to the Kiev regime.”

While such and end is impossible to achieve “overnight or in a couple of days,” in many respects the “key to the Kiev regime resides in Washington’s hands,” Peskov said.

However, the press secretary also noted that Joe Biden seems to be taking a different approach by opting instead for “pumping Ukraine with weapons even further.”
