President Trump named Adam Telle, a civilian leader in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as the acting Army secretary.
“I am pleased to announce that Adam Telle, the current Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, will become Acting Secretary of the Army, effective immediately,” he wrote on Truth Social. “He is a Great Patriot, who is respected by all. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
War Secretary Pete Hegseth congratulated Telle, writing, “Huge congrats to Adam. Strong and whip smart. He is indeed a great Patriot — and will be an immediate asset to the [Army].”
According to a biography on Telle, he served as President Trump’s “chief liaison to the Senate when he led the White House Office of Legislative Affairs’ Senate team. In this role, Mr. Telle was also a key player in the White House’s national security apparatus helping deliver historic achievements including the Abraham Accords and the authorization of the U.S. Space Force, the first Armed Service established since the 1940s.”
Former Army Secretary Dan Driscoll submitted his resignation on Monday. “Secretary Driscoll has been highly effective in advancing President Trump’s agenda to Make America Strong Again at the Department of the Army by providing outstanding leadership during historic military operations, restoring an emphasis on readiness and lethality, assisting with negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and more,” White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said in a statement to the Associated Press, adding, “The United States Army is more powerful than ever thanks to his work alongside the Commander-in-Chief and Secretary of War.”
