President Donald Trump is blasting federal judges for temporarily blocking his “Liberation Day” tariffs, calling the court’s decision “political” and “Country threatening.” In a Truth Social post on Thursday, Trump questioned how judges, including one he appointed, could issue such a ruling, expressing frustration with the legal advice he received on certain judicial picks.
“Where do these initial three Judges come from? How is it possible for them to have potentially done such damage to the United States of America?” Trump wrote. “Is it purely a hatred of ‘TRUMP’? What other reason could it be?”
Trump’s comments came after an appeals court issued an emergency stay on a lower court ruling, reinstating the tariffs for now. The U.S. Court of International Trade had blocked Trump’s use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose the tariffs, ruling the action illegal. Trump’s team swiftly appealed, and the tariffs are once again in effect—at least until the case is resolved.
Trump said he was “very proud” of many judicial appointments but disappointed in others, vowing never to forget the bad advice he received. He urged the Supreme Court to step in and deliver a quick decision to ensure his tariffs remain in place. “The President of the United States must be allowed to protect America against those that are doing it Economic and Financial harm,” Trump said.
Trump’s fight with the judiciary highlights growing frustration with activist judges blocking his America First policies. While legal figures like Leonard Leo praised Trump for reshaping the courts, the president made clear that some of his own appointees have been disappointments. Trump’s focus now turns to the Supreme Court, where he hopes for a decisive ruling in favor of his tariffs and a continued fight against economic threats from abroad.
Trump’s fight to restore his Liberation Day tariffs underscores his commitment to America First policies. The Supreme Court’s decision could determine the future of U.S. trade power.
