Donald Trump Secures Record Jewish Support for a Republican Since 1988

President-elect Donald Trump achieved a historic milestone in the 2024 election, garnering the highest percentage of the Jewish vote for any Republican presidential candidate since 1988. According to WPA Intelligence, citing exit polls from AP/Fox News/NORC, Trump received 32% of the Jewish vote nationally, surpassing his 30% share in 2020 and 24% in 2016. This marks the strongest showing for a Republican among Jewish voters since George H.W. Bush’s 35% in 1988.

Trump’s gains were especially notable in key swing states. In Pennsylvania, Trump captured 41% of the Jewish vote, as reported by a Honan Group exit poll. He also secured 38% in Arizona and 42% in Nevada, significant increases from his 2020 performance.

In states with large Jewish populations, Trump’s support was similarly impressive. In Florida, he won 44% of the Jewish vote, while in deep-blue New York, he garnered 46%. According to Democratic pollster Bradley Honan, even in traditionally Democrat strongholds like Nassau County and upstate New York swing districts, Trump’s numbers were competitive, trailing Harris by just 49% to 41%.

New York City saw dramatic shifts, with Trump winning every precinct where Jewish voters made up at least 50% of the electorate. In highly concentrated Jewish areas like Ramapo Precinct 55, Trump received 966 of 968 votes.

Trump’s popularity was also evident in Michigan, where Jewish-concentrated precincts shifted 15–20 points in his favor since 2016. Orthodox Jewish communities, including Lakewood, New Jersey, overwhelmingly supported him, with over 95% of votes cast in his favor.

Sam Markstein, National Political Director for the Republican Jewish Coalition, highlighted the broad appeal of Trump’s Jewish support. “Increases in support for President Trump were broad, diverse, and geographically widespread,” he noted, emphasizing the strong backing from Orthodox communities and growing trends in modern Orthodox and liberal areas like Oak Park and Upper Manhattan.

This surge in Jewish support reflects a significant trend in American politics, positioning Trump and the Republican Party as increasingly competitive among Jewish voters in key battleground states and beyond.
