Trump Fires Back as Democrats Push to Expose ICE Agents

President Donald Trump condemned a bill backed by Democrats that seeks to expose the identities of ICE agents.

The bill, called the Visible Identification Standards for Immigration-Based Law Enforcement (VISIBLE) Act of 2025 and introduced by U.S. Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Alex Padilla (D-CA), requires immigration enforcement officers to “display visible identification during public-facing immigration enforcement actions and to promote transparency and accountability.”

According to the legislation, ICE agents “should be visibly identifiable during any civil immigration enforcement activity at which members of the public may be directly engaged or present, including actions involving civil and criminal authority, unless the activity is truly covert and not observable by the public.”

Padilla said, in part, that ICE agents “should be required to display their agency and name or badge number — just like police and other local law enforcement agencies,” while Booker argued that the “lack of visible identification and uniform standards for immigration enforcement officers has created confusion, stoked fear, and undermined public trust in law enforcement.”

President Trump condemned the bill, stating the lawmakers “hate our country.”

When asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy if he would ever sign the bill, Trump said, “These officers are doing a tremendous job. They’re great patriots. If you expose them because of, you know, statements like have been made by Democrats and others on the left, usually mostly, I think, probably exclusively, you put them in great danger, tremendous danger.”

“And it’s sort of funny when people picket in front of Columbia, in front of Harvard and they have masks on more than masks, I mean, you can’t see anything,” he continued. “Nobody complains about that. But when a patriot who works for ICE or Border Patrol puts a mask on so that they won’t recognize him and his family, so they can lead a little bit of a normal life after having worked so hard and so dangerously. There’s a problem with that.”

Trump added that Democrats have become “someone deranged,” noting that he will do “whatever’s necessary to protect our great law enforcement people.”
