Former President Donald Trump has demanded the release of January 6 detainees after Fox News host Tucker Carlson exposed new surveillance footage of the U.S. Capitol riot.
The footage provides a different perspective on the events of January 6, which Democrats and media have allegedly misrepresented.
Trump congratulated Carlson for what he called “one of the biggest ‘scoops’ as a reporter in US history.”
He said the “new surveillance footage of the January 6th events sheds an entirely different light on what actually happened.”
The former President criticized the House Select Committee and accused them of being “CRIMINAL FABRICATORS OF THIS MOST IMPORTANT DAY.”
Trump also slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for failing on security and expressed his disappointment at the police response.
Trump called for the immediate release of those who were detained, saying that “most others are totally innocent.”
Carlson revealed over 40,000 hours of security camera footage from the Capitol Building last month that had not been revealed to the public for over two years.
The videos allegedly debunk the claims made by Democrats and media about the events of January 6.
The footage released by Carlson shows Trump supporters peacefully looking around the Capitol and waiting in lines.
One of the figures brought up repeatedly by Democrats and the media is Jacob Chansley, also known as the QAnon Shaman.
Chansley was portrayed as a violent insurrectionist and was sentenced to four years in prison for trespassing crimes.
However, as Carlson showed on Monday night, that depiction of Chansley was far from the truth.
“The footage does not show an insurrection or a riot in progress. Instead, it shows police escorting protesters to the building, including the now infamous QAnon Shaman,” Carlson said.
On Tuesday, Trump encouraged his Truth Social followers to watch the next episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
“Tucker Carlson a MUST WATCH tonight. Releasing more VIDEO which was ‘HIDDEN BY THE CROOKED J 6 UNSELECT COMMITTEE,'” Trump wrote in the post. “They should be prosecuted for their lies and, quite frankly, TREASON!”
