Trump Confronts South African President Over Targeting of White Farmers

President Donald Trump met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, discussing the targeting of white farmers in the country.

A reporter asked Trump, “What does it take from you for you to be convinced that there’s no white genocide in South Africa?”

“Well, I can answer that for the president,” Ramaphosa said. “It will take President Trump listening to the voices of South Africans, some of whom are his good friends, like those who are here when we have talks between us.”

“I’m not going to be repeating what I’ve been saying. I would say, if there was Afrikaner farmer genocide, I can bet you these three gentlemen would not be here, including my minister of agriculture. He would not be with me,” Ramaphosa continued.

Trump noted that there are “thousands of stories talking about it. We have documentaries, we have news stories.” He then directed for the lights to be turned down and a video showcasing persecution be played.

Trump was then handed documents relating to the deaths of farmers. “These are articles over the last few days,” he said, flipping through the papers, “death of people, death, death, death, horrible death, death.”

Another reporter asked Trump, “Genocide is a very strong word. I’m wondering if you’ve made up your mind as to whether you believe genocide is occurring in South Africa.”

“I haven’t made up my mind,” Trump responded, adding, “I’m trying to save lives, I’m working with Russia and Ukraine … but I’m trying to save lives, no matter where.”
