Former President Donald Trump says he has chosen his vice presidential running candidate and that the individual will be at Thursday’s debate with President Joe Biden.
Trump told reporters he’s chosen his running mate for the 2024 campaign but has not announced the candidate yet.
Last month, a CNN press release announced that Trump and Biden will debate each other on June 27.
An audience will not be present at the debate to “ensure candidates may maximize the time allotted in the debate.”
“I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th,” Biden wrote on X at the time. “Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”
Trump wrote on Truth Social, “It is my great honor to accept the CNN Debate against Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST PRESIDENT in the History of the United States and a true Threat to Democracy, on June 27th. Likewise, I accept the ABC News Debate against Crooked Joe on September 10th. Thank you, DJT!”
In November 2023, Trump’s oldest son Don Trump Jr. suggested journalist Tucker Carlson as a possible vice presidential nominee for his father’s campaign in 2024.
“I’m also confident, one way to make sure this election is as entertaining as possible would be to have Tucker Carlson as our V.P. nominee,” Trump Jr. said at the time.
“Now obviously, Tucker’s a friend, I think he’s brilliant, he’s got incredible ideas, and I think he’d be great. I would endorse that ticket right now. A lot has to happen. I can’t put words into my father’s mouth but if you needed any more reasons, if you need any more reasons, to have Tucker Carlson as V.P., I have a couple of words for you. Imagine the Tucker Carlson-Kamala Harris vice presidential debate,” he continued.
