Twitter permanently suspended Trump’s personal account on January 8, 2021, two days after a chaotic protest at the US Capitol, with the company claiming they were preventing @realDonaldTrump from making a “further incitement of violence.” The permanent ban came after Twitter issued Trump a 12-hour suspension claiming he was “inciting violence,” despite him urging protesters to remain calm and asking them to go home amid the siege on the US Capitol.
