Trump Accuses FBI Director of Misleading Congress on Biden and Alleged Shooting Incident

Former President Donald Trump has publicly criticized FBI Director Christopher Wray following Wray’s testimony to the House Judiciary Committee, where Wray expressed uncertainty about the nature of an object that struck Trump. During his testimony, Wray suggested it was ambiguous whether the object was a bullet or shrapnel that made contact with Trump’s ear.

In response, Trump took to social media to express his disbelief, noting Wray’s ambiguity about the object—whether it was shrapnel, glass, or a bullet—and criticized him for not investigating further. Trump argued that Wray was preoccupied with other matters, neglecting significant security concerns and attacking Trump’s supporters.

Trump asserted he was indeed struck by a bullet, leading to what was treated as a “bullet wound to the ear” by the hospital. This statement countered conspiracy theorists who speculated it was glass, not a bullet, that caused the injury.

A striking photograph taken by Doug Mills for The New York Times seems to capture the moment the bullet passed by Trump’s ear at a Pennsylvania rally, culminating in Trump’s immediate reaction to the wound.

Furthermore, Trump called for Wray’s resignation, arguing this need stemmed from Wray’s failure to acknowledge any cognitive decline in President Joe Biden during a Congressional hearing. Trump contrasted this with the views of Special Counsel Robert Hur, who had made remarks on Biden’s competency.

Trump’s call for Wray’s resignation was rooted in his belief that Wray’s inability to recognize what Trump perceives as obvious signs of Biden’s cognitive and physical impairments disqualifies him from leading the FBI, particularly highlighting Wray’s stance during the Mar-a-Lago incident as another point of contention.
